Weekend Fun!

The weather was gorgeous this weekend! We spent a lot of time outside :) We played in the inflatable pool, and Cyril worked on riding a bike!
Yes it is a Barbie bike :) we borrowed it from a friend because the one he got for Christmas is a smidge big for learning. He is really doing great! He is getting the balance down and working on steering/turning.

Little Cyril also had a chess tournament this weekend. He played well but was faced with playing an unranked seventh then eighth grader, and last a third grader. He held his own for a while, but lost in the end. It was a great effort and he had fun.

We also had some friends (Will and Katie with baby Hayden) come over Saturday evening for dinner. The boys loved playing with the baby!

Today we picked our first strawberry! :)

Sick Days

I took two sick days this week, the first time I have done this since I have been employed at the Eye Center (five years)! I had some sort of stomach bug Sunday and still wasn't feeling well Monday, but I had company Monday! Tommy was now sick as well, so I took yesterday and today off as well to stay home with my boy. He seems much better this afternoon, has even asked for popcorn after his nap. Yesterday was a different story, he was pitiful, but we got to cuddle on the couch all day.

On the plus side, all of the veggies are starting to pop out of the ground! Thinking I might be a successful gardener after all!! Even the strawberries are starting to form!

Cyril had more of his individualized testing yesterday, and we meet next Wednesday to come up with an individual education plan for him. I am interested to hear what they think and how we can continue to help him learn. He is a sponge for sure!

Happy Easter

What a beautiful day here today! Here are some pictures of our weekend.

The boys practiced riding bikes :)

Decorated cookies...and Tommy thought that mean to try all of them you decorate, he didn't quite have the concept of decorating them to eat later ;)

We got our seeds and plants into the garden yesterday.

Had an amazing meal this afternoon with both sets and parents, my Grandmother, and even Evan surprised us! The boys even squeezed in some trampoline time with Grandma!

Happy Easter!

Easter Eggs!

The boys were off from school today and I was off from work, so it was time to get ready for Easter! Our first adventure was the grocery store.

Our next adventure was eggs! We are having everyone over to our house for Easter Dinner so we needed boiled eggs for deviled eggs. So that means the boys got to dye eggs!

Later we will be decorating Easter cookies :)

Spring is here!

I know, I know, it has been too long since I have blogged. No excuses, but we have been a tad busy :)

Little Cyril has been going to school early everyday and playing chess. He played in his first team tournament last month and they got 6th place. He really enjoys it, and will be playing in an individual tournament in May. He is doing fantastic in school, reading at a sixth grade level, and has mastered addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! They are working on testing his intellectual abilities so we can get an individual educational program for him, to continue to let him learn since he is so far ahead of his classmates. :)

Tommy is doing fantastic as well. He started at a new preschool last month and is thriving. When I go to pick him up he wants to stay longer! His favorite afternoon activity is jumping on the trampoline now that warmer weather is here! He also has inspired us to make a vegetable garden. They had planted some carrot seeds at school and wanted to plant more at home. So we went to Home Depot and got seeds and supplies for a raised vegetable garden.
We have carrots, watermelon, and a few tomato plants so far! We also have strawberries in a planter.
Wish us luck! Hope I have a green thumb!

Now for an update on Cyril and myself! We are both busy working and trying to get the yard cleaned up for spring. Cyril is on a coed softball team, and he will have games on Tuesdays. I am still working out a lot, but about to cut back on classes a bit and enjoy more time outside with the boys.

On a sad note we were faced with the incredibly difficult decision of putting Hercules to sleep last month. He had been having a rough time since about December. We tried new medicine, but it was only a temporary fix. He was tired, has great difficulty walking and just wasn't his happy self. We miss him terribly, and the kitchen is very lonely without him. He was a fantastic dog. He would have been nine at the end of this month. That is the hardest part about having such a big dog, besides the drool :) is that the bigger the dog, the shorter their life :(

Snow Day

Yesterday we got about three inches of snow. So of course we bundled up the boys and went out to play :)
