Spiders Have Eight Legs

Cyril is learning about spiders at school this week. He made an awesome hat at school today! After we got home and he got out of the car, he informed us that spiders have eight legs :)

A Weekend of New Adventures

Saturday I went on a crazy adventure with a couple girls from work. We went to Frightmare Manor, it is a haunted attraction that you go through the haunted house, a barn, and the woods. I was terrified at the mere thought of going, but I sucked up the anxiety and went anyway (against my better judgement). And I can now say, that I made it through all three attractions and didn't scream once! This is the first time I have been to a haunted house where the scary people can touch you. They grabbed at our legs, and touched our heads from above, it was wild. We had a great time, and here are a couple pictures for you to enjoy.
Right after we got off the bus, these two lovely people came up to us. I decided in order to get over my fear I needed to go ahead and let them near me. So I asked them to take a picture with us! Frightening!
This is part of our group. They took this picture of us before we headed into the house. From left: Kari, Sonja, Nancy, Patti, and of course Me :)

Another new adventure of the weekend is that Tommy turned 4 months old Sunday! Boy has time FLOWN! So after church and visiting my friend Beth, little Cyril and I headed to the store to pick up some baby oatmeal among a few other things. When we got home Tommy started to stir from his nap, and after he woke up we decided to let him give Oatmeal a try! I am not sure he is a big fan yet, but we will keep working on it!

New Pics

The boys this morning before I took Cyril to school. He asked to hold Tommy, so I used the opportunity to take their picture :)

The house with the bushes trimmed and flowers planted. As you can see the evergreen is still standing! We got some advice from and Arborist who suggested a bagworm killer and fertilizer. He is coming tomorrow to cut the tree back and shape it so my Christmas lights can reach the top! We will see if his suggestions work and we have our tree back to normal in the spring!

I am pretty sure he likes it!

Beautiful and Productive Day

The weather couldn't have been more gorgeous today. I started the day off right with a trip to the gym, to one of my new favorite classes. It is called Body Combat, it is an incredible workout (Cyril says "it's not as fun as sweating to the oldies" haha). Then came home and helped my wonderful husband finish some much needed yard work. Now all of the bushes are trimmed and most of the weeds are pulled for the winter. We will work on it some more tomorrow after church. Then I even went through my dresser and gathered all of the clothes that I haven't worn in years to give away. I figure when I get that small again I deserve to buy new clothes for myself anyway!

This afternoon I took a trip to Home Depot to add some color to the yard as well as to pick up some grass seed. I got a few Mums for the flower pots as well as some other flowers for my front flower beds that will have to wait until tomorrow to be planted because daylight is running out.

While I was at Home Depot I also found an awesome new trash can that is Great Dane proof! It is a Simplehuman trashcan that has a lock on the lid so our sneaky little Hercules can't have trash for snacks (all of our previous trash cans have had "locks" but none of them have been successful thus far, Hercules has learned how to nudge them just right so they open). And now Cyril will be able to hang my shelf back on the wall instead of using it as a weight on the top of the trash can.

We had a delicious dinner to end the day. Now the boys are relaxing in the back of the house while Cyril waits for the Iowa game to come on TV in a few minutes.

Here are a few pics of my new additions for the yard!

Go Cardinals!

This outfit was given to little Cyril by my Aunt Carol. Glad it fits Tommy, with perfect timing I might add! Go Cards!

Turning Thirty

Yesterday was the big day, I entered the next decade of my life. The day started off wonderfully with my sweet little 4 year old climbing into my bed while I was getting ready for work and he sang happy birthday to me. Then I was off to work where I was greeted with many more happy birthdays, I even got serenaded by one of our patients. Everyone at work brought food to have a nacho bar for lunch. It was delicious! And of course don't forget the fantastic butterfinger cake :-) After work I spent some time with my wonderful mother in law and my sweet Tommy. She and my father in law got me a beautiful card as well as a new flag to hang outside for fall.

Then Tommy and I picked up little Cyril from ECC and headed home and were shortly greeted by my husband who had gotten me a new Wii game from little Cyril. It was Wheel of Fortune, which he had played at my grandparents this summer and loved. So we played that for a bit, then at about six I left to go have dinner with my friend Sara. We went to a pizza place in Knoxville, and were able to have some time to catch up which was really nice. We even squeezed in some time to go dress shopping for a wedding she is going to this weekend. After that I headed home to watch Grey's Anatomy :-) This was an amazing birthday, I am blessed beyond belief. I am so thankful for my wonderful family and friends, you are all incredible!

As for today, the party continues. I have the day off from work, so I am enjoying some time with my little Tommy and will be spending some time with my Mommy. Here in a bit we are going to watch my friend Kristin's daughter Reagan have swimming lessons. Then run a few errands and I hope for a nap later. We will be going over to my parents to celebrate my birthday tonight with an amazing dinner and one of my favorite cakes (strawberry cake with chocolate frosting made by Kristin Sharp, one of the most amazing cake bakers ever!).

Halloween Book Club

We had our October book club meeting this past Tuesday. We had decided last month to make it Halloween themed. So we read a "scary" book from the Nancy Drew series titled "The Hidden Staircase." We also planned to carve pumpkins and have a festive meal. We were too busy chatting though, so the carving of the pumpkins will be later this month after Amy delivers her precious daughter (which will be any day now)! Here are a few pics from the fun night!

Here is the cute graveyard cake Amy made. We also had a delicious chicken and broccoli casserole that had "BOO" spelled out on top with croutons. And there was an amazing salad, and some scary bloody macaroni and cheese!
